Waiheke's favourite off-road run and walk, the Waiheke Coastal Classic has 15km, 10km and 5k options. Starting and finishing only a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal at Matiatia, the event is set up to be easy and convenient for people coming over from Auckland for the day.

The course follows Waiheke's walkway network along the southern coast of the island, through countless bays and bush reserves.

We think it’s the best way to see Waiheke and the Hauraki Gulf. Run through Forest and Bird reserves. past million dollar coastal homes, alongside vineyards and into secluded bays.

Every gut-busting climb is rewarded with views across the gulf to Rangitoto, Motuihe or Maraetai.

The finish line is outside 'The Bay' Venue right beside the ferry terminal at Matiatia, where supporters and competitors can get a coffee, a beer or something to eat.

As a C.S. Lewis book character once said,
"
If one could run without getting tired I don't think one would often want to do anything else."
